Fox Glacier, New Zealand: the views are worth the hike up to the Fox glacier.
I would say it was a once in a lifetime trip,
but it was so good a person should not only experience it once.New Zealand Attractions
Fox Glacier
Fox Glacier is located on the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand. At a
latitude of 40 degrees south, there are no other glaciers as
easily accessible as the Fox Glacier, and neighboring Franz Josef Glacier. Visitors to the region can hike up either of the glaciers for an unequalled
view of the surrounding terrain.
One of the most accessible glaciers in New Zealand.
Fox Glacier travels for 13 kilometers from its source to the coast. During this time, its height falls a dramatic 2600 meters. The glacier is named after an early New Zealand prime minister, William Fox. The road to the glacier is a long stretch of grey terminal moraine, rocks and detritus left over from years of advancing and melting.
